Meredith

The Meredith corner of the Parish consists of the very old traditional timber church dedicated to St Joseph.  The timber inside walls have been painted, the back altar is white and the sanctuary painted in attractive pastel colours.

The Church is beautifully and lovingly cared for by almost all the parishioners. The brass is shining, the linen starched crisp and brilliant white and the flowers faithfully done as per the roster.  The roster is a later addition with "Pop" Martha Gargan only having relinquished her duties of 54 years, a couple of years ago due to ill health.

The Parish House is on the same 5 acre block as the Church in Lawler Street.

The Parish Centre, formally the St Joseph's Parish School is used as the Parish Centre.  The building was moved closer to the Parish House a few years ago by an enthusiastic group of parishioners under the leadership of John Nolan.  The building is now very functional with inside toilets and a well-appointed kitchen.

The Centre is used for after Mass cuppas, meetings, social events and all manner of activities.  We can't imagine what Parish life would be like without it.

Adjoining the Parish Centre is the site of the proposed Meredith Community Village - five independent living units for older persons - hopefully to be built in the near future.

The Meredith corner of the Parish having the Parish Church and the Parish House is a busy and vibrant place.  People feel welcome and a strong sense of hospitality exists.  Good liturgy is important to us and special seasons and feasts are planned for in detail.

There is a strong sense of involvement and community and our parishioners lead the way in ecumenical activities in the district.

New parishioners would be welcomed with open arms.
