Welcome to the Parish of Meredith!

The Parish of Meredith is a vibrant and growing community. We hope you will get a feel for the "Spirit" of our Parish as you browse our site. St Joseph's, which incorporates seven Parish centres, (you can visit each of them, through the links) is a warm, welcoming, Catholic faith community that looks with hope to the future.

I'm not sure just what area the parish covers - but it is a large area! Most of the parish is in the Golden Plains Shire: Anakie is in the City of Greater Geelong, Elaine is in the Moorabool Shire and Winchelsea is in the Surfcoast Shire.

It is great to be part of a parish that is alive. Sure, we have a wonderful heritage (17th oldest parish in the state of Victoria) but our people live the present and are open to the challenges of the future.

We seek to live our faith, to grow in our faith and to get to better know other members of the parish. We have a variety of activities each year to facilitate this. These activities are advertised/announced by a Parish Renewal Newsletter we call "Far Corners".

Newsletters

Twice yearly the parish produces a newsletter we call Connections. It records what has been happening in the various corners of the parish. This is for the benefit of all parishioners, to keep them informed. And it also provides a record of today's happenings for the future!

Once again, thank you for visiting our parish and enjoy exploring our website!

Message from Fr. Herman

Dear Parishioners,
I am Fr. Herman Licayan and I come from the Philippines. I just moved in here in Meredith as your new priest. I am twelve years in the priesthood and most of these are spent in the academy as a seminary teacher. This then is my first parish assignment thus entails a lot of challenges on my part but I am very much willing to take them.
It is truly my pleasure that God is bringing me here in Meredith and with His help I pray I will be able to contribute something as what is expected from a priest in regards to our Christian growth.
With you and with God’s grace I believe we can make St. Joseph’s Parish a vibrant Christian community that provides an ambiance for everyone an authentic maturity that is patterned after the injunctions of Jesus in the gospels.
I am looking forward to seeing you in the parish activities especially our masses and sacramental celebrations.
God Bless.
Fr. Herman Licayan
